The Dr. Ira Fine Discovery Fund continues to make significant contributions to advancements in research at the Johns Hopkins Division of Rheumatology, and I wanted to share some of the progress with you.
What makes the Discovery Fund unique is that we are able to provide needed seed funding for innovative ideas that might not otherwise be funded. Our grants are small, but mighty, and provide the spark that can light up a great idea. We began awarding Discovery grants in 2009, and, remarkably, have funded 21 research grants thus far. I am enclosing an update on the 2013-2014 grants.
Not one of the 21 research grants would exist without your support and belief in our efforts, and I thank each and every one of you for making great ideas happen.
