Dr. Christopher Mecoli is a physician-scientist in the Division of Rheumatology. He is a graduate of New Jersey Medical School and received a Master’s degree in clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He pursued internship and residency training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, after which he completed a fellowship in rheumatology at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Mecoli has joined both the Myositis Center and Scleroderma Center with a focus on studying fundamental mechanisms of autoimmune disease with the goal of heralding precision medicine to rheumatic disease.
Dr. Mecoli serves as the Director of Research Operations and Physician Lead for the Myositis Precision Center of Excellence. Dr. Mecoli’s research focus includes the association between cancer and myositis, development of myositis patient-reported outcome measures, and autoantibodies. Dr. Mecoli also focuses on the relationship between systemic sclerosis and cancer, biomarker development for digital ulcerations and pulmonary hypertension, and patients with en coup de sabre.
Dr. Mecoli is an active member of both the American College of Rheumatology and the Maryland Society of Rheumatic Disease.
